Redneck Parade - 2007
Dec 9 2007, 8:00 PM EST
This from Chester H. Just got back from the parade just now, it was crazy, more people watching than last year, not as many entrants, nice one but not as many. Thousands of Cars, trucks and motorcycles with many people inside each one. It took about an hour for the thing to finish and about 2 hours to empty the streets, we took pictures, when they get developed, I’ll send you some. It could really benefit Chumuckla more if more businesses were in Chumuckla, places to eat, ect… Wow I’m tired now, til later comes….Chester

I totally enjoyed walking up and down the highway visiting with folks. Visited with Mac Ryals and guests at Mac's (Steve Howell and numerous others were there), Chuck Cook and family on their front porch, Janis (Harris) Simmons and Debra (Burns) at Debra's home, Hank and Gloria Coleman (seated in prime seating in front of Campbell Salters homesite) and Skeeter and Vera Francis Howell and Ray and Phyllis Allen seated nearby, and numerous others. The crowd stretched for miles, with cars parked all the way back to John A. Cook's toward our house (were backed up nearly to Salter's Market last year though, so not sure if attendance had dropped off just a tad this year), and I would wager also all the way from Salter Road at the intersection of County Road 182 (I think that's the right road number for the Chumuckla/Allentown Beeline Express) on the east end to the site of the old Cotton Gin on the west end. Tailgate parties in full progress all along the way. Truly a site to behold!!! I am recharged and now fully ready for the Holiday Season, having attended the umpteenth annual Chumuckla Redneck Parade, again this year. The parade was colorful, as usual. Hope there's something in the paper today. Reporting from Escambia County, Jim Campbell Do you find this valuable? |
