We are a new organization dedicated to identifying, preserving and restoring the county's cemeteries. Membership is just $5.00/year for individuals or $100 for a lifetime membership. Non-profits and for-profits interested in our work can also join for a little more dues. Our first project will be to do a countywide identification and assessment of both active and inactive cemeteries. This will allow us to do some planning to set priorities and write grants to address some of the issues. We will also be doing some fundraising activities in the near future so we have some matching funds for the grants we hope to acquire. Anyone interested in helping us or joining us can contact me at sdmarsh@alaweb.com or Joyce P. Schnoor at schnoorjp@aol.com.
