March 7th is the opening day for baseball this year. The Chumuckla Athletic Association Board is excited. This year we have more kids participating than ever. We have 1 Pre-T team (you have GOT to see these little munchkins play!), 2 T-ball teams (also a must-see!) and for the 1st time ever we have 2 Machine Pitch teams. We have 1 Girls Softball, also a BIG Minor League team this year and a Major League team.
If you find that you've got nothing to do one night, head up to the ballfields and chances are good there'll be a game going on. With so many teams, they are sharing fields for practice and games. Our playing areas have expanded also. In the Tri-County League we will be playing in Jay, Fidelis, Century, Flomaton, Northwest Escambia and Molino. (all the small towns are sticking together!) WERE GROWING!! Now we just need more space for fields.
MOST EXCITING!!! Several of us were looking in the old yearbooks at the Community Center and we found a picture of the new uniform we want the kids to wear. It was one of the books from the 70s (I'll find out and post later. Maybe you know someone in the pic) This year the board was commited to giving the kids nice uniforms and I think everyone will be as pleased and excited as we are. It's kind of a retro-70s look but we wanted to get away from the T-shirts. I believe they will white (argh! the men on the board just don't understand the women's look of horror!) and possibly the "vest-style".
More updates later. Please come out and support the kids in the community. Thanks, Tina
