Chumuckla High School-1955 Photo-second grade class (At first we thought the teacher was Bobbie Whitley - one of the Wasden girls from Jay that were nieces of Juanita (Campbell Salter) Salter. But - Janis (Campbell) Engert tells us that Bobbie and Mrs. Fuqua swapped schools (Fidelis) the following year so each could be closer to home.) But now some of the actual students say the teacher is a Mrs. Vicks.

Here is the latest input! Janis Harris Simmons ..

Janis filled in a lot of gaps:
At first we thought the teacher was Bobbie Whitley - one of the Wasden girls from Jay that were nieces of Juanita (Campbell Salter) Salter. But - Janis (Campbell) Engert tells us that Bobbie and Mrs. Fuqua swapped schools (Fidelis) the following year so each could be closer to home.) But now some of the actual students say the teacher is a Mrs. Vicks.

Here is the latest input! Janis Harris Simmons (Bobby)..
Back row left to right
Martha McBride, Raymond Smith, Bonnie Kimbrough, Phil Harris, Eddie Savent, Ms. Vicks, David Campbell, Harry Harris, Buck Roberts, Penny Richarme, Bobby Waymaire, Seaborn Retherford, bottom row left to right, Rita Castleberry, Janice Cotton, Dorothy Diamond, Betty Spicer, Helen Hopkins, Helen Wise, Ann Howell, Helen Castleberry, Bobby Simmons, Travis Barlow and William Carnley.

Some discussion still going on about the little blonde girl with the wisp of hair in front. Some think she is a "Patsy Cook" (not enfinger, not patty) but it is a mystery at this poiint. Bobby Simmons (above) thinks she is Helen Wise. But on this date it seems nearly all are clearly identified.

I think I see far right, Seaborn Rutherford and Rita Castleberry bottom left. I think it is Bonnie Kimbrough 3rd top from left but she was I thought a year younger? Maybe that one is Penny Richarme? Need a cheat sheet.I think the boy at Mrs. Fuqua's right is a Johnny Faulk who used to live on Howell lane? I think Jim is right about Bonnie Kimbrough (below). I think MAYBE the girl holding the poster is Joyce Hatfield.
Janis Engert - niece of Bobbie Whitley informed me that is NOT who the teacher is. It is a Mrs. Fuqua who swapped schools (Fidelis) the next year '56 when I joined the 2nd grade at Chumuckla. Besides Bobbie - another Wasden sister taught at Chumuckla later still - Mary Alice. From Janis: James Manning Wasden, was my grandfather. His daughters: my mom, Drusilla, Emma Ruth (Cannon), Bobbie (Whitley) and Mary Alice (McHenry)His sons: Randolph, and Mack. Juanita (Campbell Salter) was their aunt - sister also to Dewey Wasden who some of us picked cotton for.
